Haiti Donation

Fund-raising activity for Haiti earthquake victims

On 12 January 2010 an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 shook Haiti. Haiti, a poor country in the Caribbean Sea, was totally ruined. At least two hundred thousand people died in this disaster and many were injured. Haiti needs our help and support!

Central board held a fund-raising activity on the 19th and 21st of January during lunchtime in the covered playground. CB products were sold in the booth, and for every purchase, CB will donate $1 to the Red Cross. Donation boxes were provided for those who wished to make direct donations.

Different boards were displayed at the booth. They provided visitors with basic information about the earthquake, alongside news clippings, and one board was reserved for schoolmates' written blessings for the earthquake victims.

Many schoolmates and teachers came and bought CB products such as CB testpads, files, water bottles, memo pads, pens, and towels. Many classmates refused to take their change and put it straight into the donation boxes! The CB members supplied coloured paper and coloured pens upon which the students could write their blessings, and the blessings board was rapidly filled to overflowing with messages of support.

We should all recognize that whilst we are being educated, fed with good food, and allowed to rest in comfortable homes there are many of our brothers and sisters who, today, are suffering from the lack of these things at the other end of the world. It is our responsibility as world citizens, to offer our help and support to the needy. We pray and sincerely hope that the Haiti victims will soon recover from this disaster, and that the souls of the victims can rest in peace.
