Advent Bible Service

TThe beginning of Advent, a time when we begin to prepare for the Nativity of Jesus, was happily celebrated on the 24th November, 2011.
All of us Hopers assembled in Delia’s Hall, and our spirits were nourished by listening to the bible reading and the prayers of the faithful. As a part of the Good Hope tradition, Sister Pauline was invited up on stage to light the first of the four Advent candles, indicating that we had entered the first week of Advent.
This bible service is simple but it puts forward a very crucial message - to remember the birth of Our Saviour Jesus at Christmas whilst preparing our hearts for the second coming of Christ. This peaceful and placid service was held in the middle of a hectic school day, and this helped to calm our minds whilst reminding us of the importance of always making room for Jesus in our hearts, no matter how busy we are. Through this service, we were reminded that Christmas is not just about materialistic presents, but instead, it is about the greatest present of all, the gift of our spiritual Messiah, Jesus Christ. Therefore, during the advent period, we should all seek to condition our souls in order to receive Him fully when He comes.
