Community Services

Purpose:

  • to help students develop empathy, social awareness and respect for different groups in society, as well as to help them internalize the core values and attitudes (e.g. respect and caring for others, social responsibility) through Moral and Civic Education;
  • to ensure that students will treasure everything that they have;
  • to unleash students’ potentials in different aspects and enrich their life experiences.

Programmes:
1. Class-based Services

F.1 & 2

  • A mass talk will be held in January/ February during Pastoral Care lessons for F.1 and 2. The contents of the talk are:
    - the introduction of community services
    - the characteristics and points to consider for elderly services January – April 2010
  • Class-based service to the elderly home
    F.1: Making souvenirs for F.2 students to present to the needy when going for services
    F.2: Community services for the elderly (e.g. games, gathering, performance, etc.)

F.3

  • Sharing session with students who study social work in January/ February during Pastoral care lessons
  • Class-based service for children (e.g. games, gathering, performance, etc.)

F.4

  • Training sessions organized by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups

The details of training are as follows:
The HKFYG arranges the service of visiting the elderly home on 3rd, 14th and 28th November, 2009.
Students will organize their second service for the same organization at second term in January – April 2010

2. Others

Students may join the different activities (e.g. flat selling day, Joint-School Christmas Service Project, etc.) organizing by Social Services Club throughout the year.
